Tropical Heights Africa Limited practices underground mining methods.

Underground mining is undertaken when the mineralisation occurs below the surface and is confined to veins, fault zones or beds that tend to have a near vertical planar or sheeted distribution that doesnt accomodate open pit mining because the zone is too narrow, and too much waste rock would have to be removed between and on the exterior of the zones to extend excavation depth. Often these mineralised zones will consist of one or more sub-parallel zones. Sometimes these zones intersect as veins.

Tropical Heights Africa Limited undertakes the unsupported method of hard rock underground mining.Unsupported methods are essentially naturally or self-supported and require no majorartificial system of support to carry superincumbent loads, instead relying on the natural competence of the walls of the openings and pillars. This definition of unsupported methods does not exclude the use of rock/roof bolts or light structural sets of timber or steel, provided that such artificial supports do not significantly alter the load-carrying ability of the natural structure.

Currently,Tropical Heights is engaging in hard rock narrow vein mining which has been dictated by the rock formation of the area where the Company is undertaking prospecting.Obstacles to the successful mining of such deposits include ground control, material handling and ventilation. In addition to these issues, the mining of narrow-vein deposits faces additional economic challenges in the low productivity of the typical narrow-vein mining method, the management of dilution and therefore grade, and the optimal integration of fill into the mining cycle.
